Filipinos Can Expect Another Price Hike For Bread And Baked Products

 Commodities prices which have been spiraling up  has an impact on daily staple foods such as bread in Philippines  recently bakers of Philippines joined hand to promote low cost Pinoy bread also to counter rising prices of  bread ,  but prices of major ingredients  such as flour , sugar and shortening has escalated  significantly  where bakers have no options but to increase the price of  bread

BAKERS may hike bread prices again next month in the wake of last week’s increase to cover higher costs of flour and sugar, industry group officials yesterday said.

Loaf prices could increase by another P1 as will a 10-piece pack of pan de sal by 50 centavos in mid-December if bakers are unable to source cheaper ingredients, they said.

But the price of the promotional budget loaf, dubbed Pinoy Tasty, will be left untouched, the officials added.

This, after several "major" firms, including industry leader Gardenia Bakeries Philippines, Inc., had already raised loaf prices last week to P49-P55.50 from the earlier P48-P54.50 range, Philippine Baking Industry President Walter Co said in a telephone interview.

Packs of pan de sal also became pricier last week, costing P35.50 instead of P35, Gardenia Bakeries Philippines Simplicio P. Umali, Jr. said in separate telephone interview.
