In my earlier post on the same subject it was mentioned that the new rules on standard pack size which has been issued under Indian Legal Metrology Packaged Commodities Rules were to be effective from July this year but for the protest and recommendation from large biscuit ,confectionery manufacturers this rule has now being deferred till November . The postponement has given relief to major biscuit manufacturers who were caught unaware and have to handle huge logistics problem with stocks .
The major change mentioned in this new act is that the value packs of Rs1/- to Rs10/- has been exempted from standardization. This was major demand from the organized bakery manufacturers . It would also help consumer as well as companies to manufacturer products with flexibility in terms of weights and price . Low middle class consumers can benefit from this change as they can buy packs at low price .
