Standard Pack Size Rules Postponed Till Nov2012

In  my earlier  post  on the same subject  it was mentioned that the new rules on standard pack size  which  has been  issued under  Indian Legal Metrology Packaged Commodities Rules were  to be effective from July this year  but for  the protest  and recommendation  from large biscuit ,confectionery manufacturers  this  rule  has now being deferred  till November . The postponement has given  relief  to  major  biscuit manufacturers who were caught unaware and have to handle huge logistics problem with stocks .

The  major change  mentioned in this  new act  is  that the value packs  of Rs1/-  to Rs10/-  has been exempted from  standardization. This  was major demand from the  organized  bakery manufacturers . It would also help consumer as well as companies  to manufacturer products with flexibility in terms of weights and price . Low middle class consumers can benefit   from this change as they can buy  packs  at low price .
