The workers strike of Hostess brand company has now ended in company declaring to close all it operations with company filing for bankruptcy .This would allow management to layoff most of the workers from strength of 18,500.This also paves the way for selling of its asset to buyers to clear liabilities .Hostess brands has assets such as 33 bakeries, 565 distribution centers, approximately 5,500 delivery routes and 570 bakery outlet stores throughout the United States .Hostess is among the top bakery product manufacturers in US in league of companies like Bimbo and Flowers Foods . Brands like Hostess, Drakes, Dolly Madison, Twinkies, CupCakes, Ding Dongs, Ho Ho’s, Sno Balls, Donettes, Wonder, Nature’s Pride, Merita, Home Pride, Butternut and Beefsteak are popular Hostess Brands .
It all started with Company filing reorganization report for revival of Hostess Brands which has been reeling under consecutive loses in sales . Management has introduced longer hours and 8% pay cuts in revival plan with no provision of pensions as perks . These clauses has provoked Bakery , Tobacco , Confectionery ,Grains and Millers Union (B.T.C.G.M.U) International Union to call for strike .
This incident of complete break down of understanding between worker union and company management serves none .
